Starc is now the most expensive after breaking Cummins' record

Compatriot Mitchell Starc broke Pat Cummins' record of the most expensive cricketer in IPL in a span of two hours. Cummins was bought by Sunrisers Hyderabad for Rs 20.5 million. Starc was bought by Kolkata Knight Riders for 24 crore 75 lakhs.

The left-arm pacer made a royal comeback in the IPL after eight years. There is a battle between Kolkata and Gujarat Titans over Starc. After a 20-minute fight, Starck left for Kolkata's Dera.

Earlier, Sunrisers brought Cummins to the team for the highest price, surpassing all previous records of IPL.

A kind of war is going on between the franchises for this pacer in the auction. Chennai Super Kings, Mumbai Indians, Royal Challengers Bangalore, Sunrisers Hyderabad, Kolkata Knight Riders are all in the race to sign Cummins.

Before Cummins-Starc, Sam Curran was the most expensive cricketer in IPL. In the auction ahead of the 2023 IPL, he was snapped up by Punjab Kings for Rs 18.5 million.
