Why spend millions of dollars to buy? Ola Electric will offer e-scooters on a subscription

Ola Electric is soon going to introduce a subscription plan for its electric scooter customers to keep and ride for a few weeks. The company's founder and CEO Bhavish Agarwal said this on Thursday. On Wednesday, the day before the announcement, he launched a poll on Twitter.

The poll shows that 77 percent i.e. more than 8,500 customers have given their opinion in favor of bringing Ola electric scooters with the subscription. The rest voted against it. Seeing the consent of most of the customers, Agarwal told reporters about bringing this service soon.

Agarwal says, “We are not just a manufacturing firm. We also think about consumers. It turns out that most of our customers are interested in the subscription-based model. So we will bring it. Ola is trying to prevent Indians from buying ICE vehicles by 2025.” “Our Ola S1 scooters will surpass the sales of Honda Activa within the next year,” he added.

Agarwal said that by 2023, they will build a new factory in Krishnagiri, Tamil Nadu to produce lithium-ion cells. The initial phase will have a capacity of 5 GW. They are also planning to launch electric motorcycles next year. Ola said it will sell the remaining cells to other companies after using the electric cells it makes in its motorcycles and scooters.
